AP STATS TESTERS information
Good morning,
This email contains two important pieces of information. One is from college board and pertains to submitting responses to the exam. There were issues across the country last week with students getting errors, or not being able to submit their answers. College board has a plan for this week in case that happens to use so please read the information below carefully. The second thing is an update from on of the STATS blogs we follow {this particular one is run by the man who did the college board ap statistics review videos - which I highly recommend you go back and watch this week to help you prepare for the exam}.
First: Information from College Board:
Dear Colleague,
Today we reached the midway point of the two-week primary administration. We couldn't be more proud of the hundreds of thousands of students who showed up for the opportunity to claim the college credit they worked for all year, despite widespread school closures. Students have taken nearly 2.2 million AP® Exams, across 15 courses. After the first week of testing, our data show the vast majority of students successfully completed their exams. However, some students have encountered challenges submitting their responses, and we've been listening closely to each student, parent, or educator who reports a problem. Beginning Monday, May 18, we're changing processes to address some of these concerns. To help support your students during testing, please share the information below with them. | ||||||||||||

Second: Information from STATS blog - now this is not inside information just his predictions for what he thinks could be on the exam and cover all the topics that need to be covered. For Calc each question had at least 7 parts and took most students the entire testing time and then some still did not finish, so he could be off in how many parts he sees for each question.

5/6 to 5/15 Final push
Good evening,
I hope you all are doing well. It is hard to believe but we
are in the home stretch. This is your last week and a half of assignments and you have finished AP STATS! Way to go. Any missing work from the quarter you owe me, including discussion
questions which some of you have been ignoring, on schoology needs to get
turned in as your last day will be here before we know it. (makes me
sad inside!) Remember you must have a 60% in the quarter to achieve
a pass for the quarter and hence then pass the course for the
year. If you do not receive that 60% you will receive an
incomplete and then have to make that up before credit for the course is
achieved.
Answer keys for last weeks book work and FRAPPY and are in
the answer key folder on schoology. Be sure to check you answers and let me
know if you have any questions. I have included in this weeks folder a link to
the pink packet with formulas and tables, a top 10 list for the AP stats exam,
a link to a video on reading a mini tab, and a review for all of chapters 1-10.
This week we will focus on reviewing all concepts taught in
the course. In the materials folder on schoology there is a folder called study
materials. If you have not already printed these now might be a good time as
they can help you with the assignments this week and next week.
1. Complete the FRAPPY practice packet emaiedl to Mr. Halstead or uploaded to schoology{Straub} by 5/12 at 5PM. Do
these two problems like you will on the AP test with notes, formula packet, and
calculator. Upload the to schooloy.
You
can send them to me in PDF, but remember the AP exam is not going to accept
PDF so make sure you can send in .png, .jpg, .jpeg. format 1 picture per page up
to 5 pages per problem. Remember you will
have to download them to your device and attach them to the problem in 5
minutes so practice, practice, practice: FRAPPY Practice
2. Extra Credit: Complete the 2020 Mock exam emailed to Mr. Halstead or uploaded to schoology{Straub} by 5/15 at
5PM. Do these two problems like you will on the AP
test with notes, formula packet, and calculator. Upload the to schooloy. You can send them to me in PDF, but remember
the AP exam is not going to accept PDF so make sure you can send in .png, .jpg, .jpeg. format 1 picture per page up

3. There
are three discussion questions about College board and taking the AP exam. Complete
these discussion questions by 5/12 at 5PM. If you are not taking the AP Exam
you can email me and I will excuse you from those discussion questions. If you
do not email me that you are not taking the AP Stats test then you are expected
to complete all three discussion questions.
Mr. Halstead and I will be running a review session via
Microsoft teams on Monday 5/11 at 12:30 for anyone who would like to go over
the practice test FRAPPYs the were due on 5/5. If you would like to attend you
will need to email me so you can get an invite to the meeting.
We will run another review session for the Practice FRAPPYs
due 5/12 and the 2020 Mock exam due 5/15 on Wednesday 5/20 at 12:30. If you would
like to attend you will need to email me so you can get an invite to the
meeting.
REMINDERS
1.
The AP has started
their review sessions at the link below, and they are very well done. For
those of you taking the AP test I suggest you watch them to help get ready and
if you have not joined the stats medic review course that was sent to you, it
is free and another wonderful resources you should be using.
2.
We have also added a
link to the "Crack the AP" website. They have an excellent list of
all the AP Stats vocab we have discussed this year. For those of you taking the
test it is a great site to solidify your AP terminology.
3.
Work on the stats medic review
guide course if you are taking the AP test as it is also a wonderful resource
to get ready. Remember it is not
an assignment but your AP score is largely going to depend upon your intrinsic
motivation and how hard you work beyond our class hours to get ready. The join link was sent to your school e-mail
two Friday’s ago and remember it is free. If you need
another join invite let me know but look for it in your e-mail from the past
before you request.
